And by hell, I mean Texas. Because if you live in Texas, you know exactly what this is all about.

Yeah, pretty depressing when you look at the 10 day forecast and the lowest temperature you’ll see for the whole period is still over 80...

And it’s not August yet.

We actually heard some thunder last night. It was nice. Didn’t get any rain at our house, though.

Yeah, we saw a thunderstorm in the distance while we were out looking at Neowise.

I took my dog out to use the restroom at 11:30 last night and it was STILL hot. Not warm; HOT.

Warmest day of the year here yesterday, but it looks like today is supposed to be slightly cooler than they were predicting previously:

I looked it up, looks pretty nice, although that is midwinter for you all, right?

I feel for people in Texas.  It was way too hot yesterday and will be again today and here in Ohio it's noticeably less hot than in Texas..

Did you get any good views? I think we’ve waited too long to try and see it.

Even with it raining just about every day, it has been in the high 90s all week. Only the rain means the humidity is high you are basically swimming.

The humidity is one of the things I don’t miss about living in Houston.

We do have somewhat different standards for hot up here, though I don’t think anyone really likes mid-’90s with high humidity regardless of which part of the country you are from.

I call that lovely. Cold to me is when the highs hover around 20F (-7C) which usually happens here for at least a few weeks in the middle of winter each year..

High 94, 74% humidity today isn’t as bad as last week.

Either way,  you all deserve the break given the kind of summer you had this past year.  Stay warm.

There was an Oppo discussion a while ago about what passes for hot and cold for different people. While I’m teasing you about your high temp compared to ours, I’m also not claiming to have any special heat-resistant super powers by virtue of living in TX. Calzone Golem had a take on it all from a Mainer’s perspective that I have repeated often: It’s not that people in Maine are better at staying warm, they just know how to tolerate being cold. The same can certainly said of tolerating being hot.

Yeah, last night and the night before, with binoculars. It’s close to the horizon, so you need an open area or a high point with not too much light pollution to the NW.

I thought it was getting higher in the sky these next couple days.

My saying for years: We do, in fact, have four season here in Texas. Fall, Spring, Summer, and Hell (July & August).

Also, I prefer we have this weather, as it weeds out the annoying yankees that do things like complain that the trees don’t turn color like they do in their lovely home state of Connecticut. Like the human body, the heat during Hell season is a natural response to that virus.

I’m sorry, what were we talking about?

I realize that I am in the minority here, but I freaking love hot and humid weather. I’ll take it over cool any day. Like, 85-90 and humid is my ideal temperature .

Its supposed to peak around July 23rd! Also every article says its visible at sunset. What they really meant was when the western sky just starts to go black. Was 10 or 10:30pm for us on Saturday.

Still sounds nice, the high was -13 F (-25C) here in January 2019 and 95F (35C) in July 2019. Whenever I look at that I ask myself why exactly I live in Minneapolis...
